Apple Store Schedules Overnight Shifts To Prepare For OS X Lion Release

Apple will have its employees work an overnight shift tonight according to 9to5mac.

The Apple enthusiast blog revealed in an article that “In the employee halls of the retail chain sit large tubes that hold new posters for both front of store posters and posters within the store. Additionally, we’re hearing that each store has been sent a Lion-packing Mac Pro for an unknown purpose. As previously reported, LaCie hard drives loaded with the GM seed of Lion image are ready to be connected as installers on the Macs throughout the showroom floor.”

Obviously new signage is being put up and maybe some small changes will be done to the retail stores. It seems as if OS X Lion is the only possible answer to this overnight shift.

No new word has been brought forth about the new Macbook Airs that were supposed to be releasing with the Thunderbolt connection, faster processors, and of course Mac OS X Lion.

Best Buy and Amazon Showing Stockouts Of MacBook Air

Apple will be unveiling the new MacBook Airs this week. We had mentioned a couple of weeks ago, that Reuters cited a news article from Taiwan’s Economic Daily statement that read “Apple Inc will start selling its latest MacBook Air in late June with 380,000 units as the first shipment.” Looks like Reuters was right and we will finally be seeing there release.

Can we get a little proof please?

Best Buy stopped shipping all versions of the MacBook Air this last weekend. You can still order one of the notebooks, but it is most likely that you will be receiving the refreshed version of the MacBook Air. The company also stated that they will likely not adjust the pricing for the new model.

BGR Reported that “several sellers on the Amazon.com website are showing low inventory or stockouts as well, further supporting the notion that Apple has stopped refreshing distributor inventory as it prepares to begin shipping updated MacBook Air models.”

The refreshed MacBook are expected to feature a Sandy Bridge processor, Thunderbolt I/O port, and should come with improved graphics. Hopefully Apple throws in a couple of new things as well.

Best Buy Introduces “Music Cloud”

So 2011 has definitely been a great year for many companies and many big timers have introduced either a new or completely revamped “cloud.” Amazon’s got one, Google’s got one, and Apple’s had one and getting a newer one. Who else could possibly be on the market to compete with these three companies? Best Buy! Best Buy isn’t introducing their “Music Cloud” thinking that their going to own 100% of the cloud music market share but they’re sure as hell gonna try.  The main purpose of the cloud storage system is to keep all of your devices synced up.

According to Daily Tech, “Best Buy’s Music Cloud is similar to others in that it allows users to stream their music to several devices like phones, computers, and tablets. It is powered by Catch Media’s PlayAnywhere technology, and will be compatible with iOS devices, Android-based devices and Blackberry phones.”

Best Buy will have a free version of “Music Cloud” that limits you to listening on through the Best Buy Web player. For a measly $4 monthly charge, you get access to the companies premium package and can take your music with you everywhere you go.

Best Buys Music Cloud hasn’t officially launched yet, but after signing up, you can experiment with some 30 second clips on your Mac or PC.
